Leah Austin can't look at something without trying to figure out how it was made.
This curiosity is the driving force behind her career as a multidisciplinary fabricator and designer, where she turns ideas and imagination into physical objects. Guided by a working philosophy of making as many cool things as possible with cool people, she works across theatrical fabrication, installation and scenic design.
Leah holds a degree in Scenic Design and Technology from the University of Texas at Austin. She has spent the last year in an Emerging Arts Professionals fellowship in props management at Texas Performing Arts Fabrication Studios.
Her recent work includes Hysteria, an interactive installation about chronic pain, stigma and the human experience. "By inviting audiences to write directly on the sculpture, Hysteria becomes a visible representation of the challenges and misconceptions surrounding invisible illnesses".
